Today (July 5th) marks the birthday of Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' director Sudha Kongara. Sudha worked with director Mani Ratnam as an associate director for almost seven years before she made her directorial debut with Vishnu Vishal and Srikanth starrer 'Drohi', which did not do good business at the box-office.

Later, her second outing with Madhavan 'Irudhi Suttru' raised her to fame. Her next film 'Soorarai Pottru' is one of the most anticipated movie of the year because of her collaboration with Suriya. Suriya who did not have any hits in 2019 as his last two releases 'NGK' and 'Kaappaan' did not perform well, he is now awaiting the release of 'Soorarai Pottru'.

On Sudha Kongara's birthday today, the makers of the film has released a special BTS video for her from 'Soorarai Pottru' on Twitter.

The video has the clippings of Sudha Kongara working on the location of the film among technicians and actors including Suriya. In between the clippings, the makers have defined the qualities of Sudha Kongara with texts, "She's a Perfectionist, She's a Ringmaster, She's a Sweet Heart". Finally, they wished her "Happy Birthday Sudha Kongara".

'Soorarai Pottru' is based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath – founder of the budget airline Air Deccan. The film chronicles the journey of Captain Gopinath from the age of 19 till he was in his 40s.

This movie bankrolled jointly by Suriya's 2D Entertainment banner and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment banner has music by GV Prakash, cinematography by Niketh Bommi and editing by Sathish Suriya.

The film features Suriya in the lead role, with Aparna Balamurali, Jackie Shroff, Kavitha, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Karunas, Sampath Raj, Urvashi, Achyuth Kumar, Vivek Prasanna, Kaali Venkat and Krishnakumar Balasubramaniam in pivotal roles.

The movie was slated for April 9, 2020 release, but it has been delayed owing to COVID-19 pandemic. The movie is dubbed in Telugu titled as 'Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra'. There were reports that 'Soorarai Pottru' is also being dubbed in Kannada but there is no update on the same.

GV Prakash Kumar composed music for the film. Two songs from the movie - 'Maara theme' and 'Veyyon Silli' has been released so far. Third track from the album 'Kattu Payale' is expected to release soon. Niketh Bommireddy has taken care of the cinematography while Sathish Suriya is handling the editing.
