Producer V Swaminathan passed away after battling COVID-19

Producer V Swaminathan
Producer V Swaminathan of famous production house Lakshmi Movie Makers died days after testing positive for coronavirus at a private hospital in Chennai on August 10 morning.

V Swaminathan has produced many classic hit films include Anbe Sivam, Pudhupettai, Priyamudan, Gokulathil Seethai, and Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen. Along with Swaminathan, K Muralitharan and G Venugopal co-operated the company.

Apart from producing Tamil films, he had done supporting roles in a few films. Recently, Swaminathan's son Ashwin got married to Vidya Sri during the novel coronavirus pandemic. Ashwin also appeared as a comedy actor in films like Kumki and Boss Engira Baskaran. Swaminathan is survived by his wife Lalitha and two sons, Ashok and Ashwin.

Many celebrities including director Bharathiraja, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and director Ponram took to Twitter to offer their condolences to Swaminathan's family.

Director and actor Mano Bala tweeted, “Shocking..really sad ..my good friend…RIP”.


Filmmaker Ponram wrote, “Had heard heartbreaking news about the loss of V Swaminathan sir. My deepest condolences to his family. A very humble person. May your soul rest in peace.”
