Earlier in the month, SP Balasubrahmanyam announced that he had contracted COVID-19 and has mild symptoms and has opted for hospitalisation keeping his family in mind. On August 13, his health deteriorated and he was then moved to ICU and was put on life support.

Since then his son SP Charan has been giving regular updates on his father's health through social media.

In his instagram post today, SP Charan said that his father is on the path to recovery in which he said, "Reports from the hospital have been very uneventful, which means dad is continuing to be stable and on the path to recovery. That is a good sign and they had done a session of physiotherapy today also. I have not visited him today. And again I am very grateful to the doctors at the hospital and each and every one of you, who have been praying and showing your appreciation, love and concern for my father."

"Hopefully there will be more updates in the future, but as I say no news is good news. So, dad continues to be healthy and he continues to be on a positive path to recovery," added Charan.

SP Charan on this statement yesterday, “There is a slight improvement in his lungs having said that I should inform everyone that I did visit my father and he was more awake today than the day before yesterday and he responded much better. He did write something to communicate to me but he is still not able to hold paper properly.”

“He is listening and tapping the music, trying to sing also. I am very happy for the improvement. These are very good signs of dad’s recovery. I am very very happy for your love, concern and again thank you for the affection you guys have shown”, Charan concluded in his video message yesterday.

A week ago, millions of fans and film personalities organised mass prayers between 6 pm and 6.05 pm. Musicians, actors, people from various walks of lives took part in virtual prayers.

A similar event has been organised today and fans have been asked to pray in a similar fashion. SP Balasubrahmanyam is stable and continues to be on ventilator support and on Extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
