Telugu Superstar Mahesh Babu recently celebrated his 45th birthday and on the occasion he took part in Green India Challenge, for which he planned a sapling at his home in Hyderabad.

He also nominated Thalapathy Vijay, Shruti Haasan and Jr NTR to take up the challenge.

He wrote, "There couldn't be a better way to celebrate my birthday #GreenIndiaChallenge I pass this on to @tarak9999, @actorvijay & @shrutihaasan. Let the chain continue and transcend boundaries I request all of you to support the cause. One step towards a greener world! (sic)."

Vijay is quick and first of the nominee to take part in the Green India Challenge that is going viral on social network.

Despite not being active on social media, Vijay took to Twitter and posted a series of pictures of himself planting a tree sapling at his home in Neelankarai in Chennai. In one of the photos, he is seen holding a sapling in his hand and posing for the camera. Vijay also thanked Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu for nominating him by tweeting “This is for you @urstrulyMahesh garu. Here’s to a Greener India and Good health. Thank you #StaySafe.” (sic)

As soon as Vijay posted the pictures, they went viral on social media, with fans excited that he responded to Mahesh Babu. In less than an hour, Mahesh babu reacted to Vijay's post on Twitter. He thanked Vijay for participating in the challenge and asked him to stay safe. Mahesh Babu wrote, "Thanks a lot brother for taking this up Stay safe! (sic)."

While Vijay has completed the challenge, Shruti Haasan took to Twitter to reveal that she is excited to take part in the challenge. Soon, Jr NTR and Shruti will release photos of themselves completing the Green India Challenge. Shruti Haasan replied to Mahesh and assured him, she’ll soon take up the challenge and wrote, “Thankyou for nominating me sir!! I would love to be a part of this wonderful step,” (sic)

The Green India Challenge requires people to plant tree saplings at their home or at a public space to make the country safer to live in. Further, many celebrities nominate three other people to continue the chain. However, Vijay refrained from nominating anyone.

Many Tollywood stars take part in the Green India Challenge last few years and the challenge has picked up pace again after lockdown. Prabhas, Samantha and Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and more also took part in the challenge.
