Chiyaan Vikram wanted his son Dhruv Vikram to make his debut with a movie directed by his guru director Bala. Hence the original Tamil remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy was directed by Bala and was titled 'Varma'.

However, the producers of 'Varma', E4 entertainment's Mukesh Ratilal Mehta were reportedly disappointed with Bala's version of Varma. Mehta remade the entire movie again with another title called 'Adithya Varma'. The film released last year starring Banita Sandhu in the leading role and was directed by debutant Girisaaya.

Recently, there were rumours that the producer Mukesh Ratilal Mehta will be releasing Bala’s version of Varma on an OTT platform. Mehta has taken to his official Twitter handle and cleared the air.

But now comes the good news that Bala's version of 'Arjun Reddy' remake 'Varma' is set to premier on OTT platforms Tentkotta and Simply South from October 6. These are popular streaming platforms outside of India for international viewers. Bala directed 'Varmaa' with Dhruv Vikram and Megha replacing Vijay Devarakonda and Shalini Pandey from the original with Raiza Wilson and Easwari Rao in important roles.

It is worth to recall that cinematographer Sukumar, who had worked in Varma has said that Varma was the best version when compared to 'Adithya varma', and said 'Varma' was made on first copy basis and till the censor process there were no signs of scrapping the movie, but the producer did it because of someone's suggestion. Once 'Varma' comes out on OTT it will be more interesting when comparing both the versions and may be better than 'Aditya Varma'. 'Aditya Varma' is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. This is also the first time ever two Tamil films of same story and screenplay with the same hero directed by different directors is releasing though on different platforms.

Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Devarakonda in the lead, one of the biggest hits in the Telugu film industry in 2017, was made on a budget of Rs 5 crore, but went on to rake in Rs 65 crore at the box office.
