Actor Sivakarthikeyan's fans for the last few days were demanding some update from the makers of his upcoming film 'Doctor' with director Nelson Dilipkumar of 'Kolamaavu Kokila' fame.

Yesterday, Sivakarthikeyan and the director has made an official announcement on his twitter page with a video that Doctor update would be released on the auspicious day of Diwali 2020. In the video the director was asking the actor cum producer Sivakarthikeyan to share an update for his fans. In the end, he promised that there will be an exciting update soon.

Now, on the day of Diwali, Sivakarthikeyan has officially announced that 'Doctor' will have theatrical release on the summer of 2021.

After two single tracks released by the makers and with both the songs turned out to be hits, the expectations for the movie raised. Titled 'Chellamma', the first single track released on July 16 and crossed 61 million views on YouTube since its release. The second single track titled 'Nenjame' was released on August 20, and it also received a positive response from the fans.

The movie has music by Anirudh and is bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan under his banner SK Productions, along with KJR Studios. Cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan, and the edits are handled by R Nirmal. The visuals are to be organized by Art Director drk Kiran. The movie also includes Priyanka Arul Mohan, Vinay, Archana, Ilavarasu and Yogi Babu amongst others.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan is also working on his long-delayed science-fiction film, 'Ayalaan', which features Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead. The film is directed by Ravikumar of 'Indru Netru Naalai' fame and produced by KJR Studios again.
