Popular actor Murali passed away in Chennai late last midnight.

According to sources, he was admitted to a hospital on the outskirts of Chennai after he developed sudden illness. He however breathed his last late night not responding to the treatment.

Murali started his acting career in 1984 with the film 'Poovilangu'. His last film was 'Baana Kaathadi', which is the maiden venture of his son Atharva. Murali was last seen at the wedding reception of Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya last week.
