Mollywood's leading Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has decided to boycott the Kerala Tourism department's function to honour Kamal Haasan for completing 50 years in the industry.
AMMA president and actor Innocent explained: "We have nothing against honouring Kamal Haasan. However, we feel there are other artists in Malayalam cinema who have completed 50 years, and are worthy to be recognized by the state government. Why should an actor from outside the state be felicitated for such an honour?"
AMMA will not be part of the event; however, individual members are free to participate. According to sources, superstar Mammootty and Mohanlal will take part in the grand function on August 22 during Onam Tourism week celebrations to be held at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on August 22.
