Padmapriya, who has acted in a few Tamil films including 'Mirugam', 'Pattiyal', 'Satham Podathay' and 'Thavamai Thavamirinduh', tried her luck in Hindi films with her debut film releasing in the early part of this year. The film, in which she played not a major role, had a decent run at the box-office.
Reports say that the actress, who had shed a lot of flab around her waist in recent times, has rejected as many as five new Hindi film offers. The actress says that she has acted in many 'meaningful' films in Tamil and Malayalam and wanted to experiment by starring in ultra-commercial roles.
"The importance given and the recognition of commercial film heroines have reached a crescendo now. I have done many films to satisfy the needs of the 'actual' actress inside me. The number of awards I have got is proof enough of this. For the next few years of my career, I would keep giving top priority only to films having commercial value.
"I am also open to doing glamourous roles. My first Hindi film was also a commercial film and was a hit. When I got similar roles, I rejected them. I'm open to doing commercial films but the roles have to be substantial and satisfactory to me," says Padmapriya, who is presently starring in a solitary Tamil film titled "Gokulam".
