Thamanna, whose career had till recently been going very strong, has had some setbacks in the recent past. Though her latest release 'Thillalangadi' has been doing 'not-so-bad' business at the box-office, the fact that she hasn't been getting as many new film offers as per her liking has started worrying Thamanna's career.

Though she has starred against all the top heroes in Tamil films from Vijay to Dhanush to 'Jeyam' Ravi to Karthi, Thamanna is said to have been hard hit by the entry into Kollywood of the likes of Anushka, Samantha, Hansika Motwani and old foes Trisha and Asin.
It is in this backdrop that Thamanna is said to be mighty excited about having been signed up by director Shankar (no confirmation yet, though) as Vijay's heroine in his upcoming movie, which would be a remake of the Bollywood superhit film '3 Idiots'. Readers might be aware that Nayantara too wanted to get this role, which was played in the original Hindi version by Kareena Kapoor.
Thamanna, besides cutting down on her usual fee, has also said that she was ready to give a lengthy call-sheet of 3 months to star in the film. Considering how good was the Hindi version, we can expect the film to do well and give Thamanna a new lease of life!
Unlike Thamanna's last film with Vijay ('Suraa'), we only hope this turns out to be a successful venture!
