The Tamil Nadu government today ruled out providing entertainment tax exemption to those films not having Tamil names.
According to an official release, the government had announced total exemption from entertainment tax for films having Tamil names. ‘Of late, there had been increase in some people seeking tax exemption by naming films according to their whims and fancies and claiming it was also Tamil name’.
To put an end to this trend, the government said based on the guidelines issued earlier, any film having no Tamil name would not be given exemption from entertainment tax, the release added.
