The Tamil film industry came in for appreciation from Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh on Saturday.

Inaugurating the Ninth Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, an annual event for non resident Indians (NRIs) all over the world, in New Delhi, he said, “when you see the creativity of Tamil cinema, the knowledge explosion in Bangalore, the entrepreneurial vibrancy of Gujarat, you feel proud to say you are a person of Indian origin.”
He said that world expects India to play a more important role in the management of global polity and economy and the country’s rise as an emerging nation is welcomed as a positive factor in international relations.
The Prime Minister said the creative ability of Tamil film industry has reached great heights. “This is one of the factors any NRI could feel proud about,” Manmohan Singh said at the high profile event.
