Vijay's first partnership with Jayam Raja is the upcoming Velayudham. The movie, which has completed 80% of its production, is nearing completion with only the grand climax and a dance number to be filmed. Galatta scribes report on Velayudham: An Aascar Films presentation, Velayudham has a lively cast comprising Genelia, Hansika Motwani, Pandiarajan, Santhanam, Singamuthu, Vaiyapuri, Kadhal Dhandapani and Nanjapuram Raghav. In Velayudham, Vijay appears as a philanthropic villager, whose every action is planned to help the community as a whole. Genelia, with her usual bubbly mannerisms, enters the village as a journalist and a triangular love story unfolds. The movie was filmed across various locations from rural to urban to overseas. Pollachi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Orissa and a few European nations were on the Velayudham filming map. The movie had also filmed an elaborate marriage scene at a cost of 1.5 crores. Concluding to the media, Velayudham sources said that they had planned to release the movie on Vijay's 37th birthday, which falls on June 22nd.
