Swarnamalya back in headlines!

Swarnamalya is back in news
Remember actress Swarnamalya, who graduated from small-screen to big-screen and starred in a few films?  The actress, who hosted a popular reality show like Ilamai Pudhumai on a Sun TV, leading television channel, debuted as an actress in ace director Marniratnam’s Alaipayudhae as heroine Shalini’s sister.

Her performance as Jyothika’s friend in director Radhamohan’s Mozhi earned her many accolades.  She was then caught in an unsavoury controversy involving a VIP and remained on the sidelines for a long time, appearing only on television programmes.  A trained Bharatnatyam danseuse, Swarnamalya was invited recently for a dance programme.

A few days back, social activist Anna Hazare visited Chennai to watch the film Mudhalvar Mahatma at a specially-arranged screening.  As part of arrangements to accord welcome to the Gandhian, the producers of the film had also arranged a dance performance by Swarnamalya. Some Tamil activists distributed pamphlets at the venue to elicit support to stall the death sentences award to the trio in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Swarnamalya got into a rage on seeing the pamphlets distributed at the venue.  She then reportedly cited that she was very much in support of the death sentences awarded to the trio in the assassination of our former prime minister.  “How could you distribute such pamphlets at this venue?” screamed Swarnamalya and sent the Tamil activists out of the venue.

Whatever the reasons might be, Swarna would be doing herself a great favour by not creating any ruckus at public places!
