It is the birthday of A R Rahman! The double Oscar winner is celebrating his 47th birthday today.

‘Isai Puyal’ started his film career with his composition for the super hit film Mani Ratnam directed ‘Roja’ in 1992. He went on composing music for many hit films in Tamil and also in Bollywood. The ‘Mozart of Madras’ became popular in the international arena of music with his double Oscar win in the 2009 Academy Award Ceremony for his composition in the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The composer is rated by many international organizations as one of the most influential musicians of our times and the music genius is also still marching ahead with his experimental music in films and other forms of music.

Apart from Oscars, A R Rahman has won many awards including Grammy Awards, BAFTA, Golden Globe, four National Awards, fourteen Filmfare Awards, thirteen Filmfare Awards south and other national and international awards. He has also been honoured with the prestigious Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu and Padma Bushan Award from the Government of India.
