The Tamil movie ‘Nanban’, which was released on January 12, 2012, is already a smash hit in South India.

The theatres have been booked for the next couple of days. The movie had a grand opening with the fans of actor Vijay seen carrying the reel box to the Udhayam Theatres in a chariot.

At the end of the procession, Vijay’s father and director and producer SA Chandrashekar handed over the reels of the movie to the owners of the theatres. With a grand opening, the movie also lived up to the expectations of all the Vijay fans.

As per official sources, 'Nanban' box office collections are expected to cross Rs. 50 crores in its opening weekend itself.

The movie was directed by ace director Shankar and has Vijay, Jeeva, Srikanth and Ileana D’Cruz in lead roles. The Bollywood version of the movie was a smash hit and now the makers of the Tamil version too are looking forwards for the same response.

The movie is the Tamil remake of the Hindi blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’.

Since the Tamil movie ‘Vettai’ will be releasing only on January 14, 2012, ‘Nanban’ is managing to keep the audience pretty engaged.
