Famed playback singer S. Janaki suffered a head injury after she slipped and fell down in the bathroom in a star hotel at Tirupati on Tuesday.

Janaki tripped and fell on the hinges of a door and suffered injury on the hind side of her head, just above the neck. She was immediately rushed to the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) for treatment.

The doctors reportedly removed the blood clot and treated the wounded portion with five sutures.
Though a diabetic, her sugar and blood pressure levels were under control, according to the news bulletin from a team of doctors treating her. Brushing aside the media reports of the veteran singer, slipping into coma, her son Muralikrishna said his mother`s condition was stable.

The ace singer was here to witness the marathon concert `Sri Annamacharya Sankirtana Yagnam` performed by her nephew G. Balakrishna Prasad at Mahati auditorium in Tirupati.
