It is quite a routine affair for the director Bala to shape and mould the characters in his movies according to the defined modes.
We can notice this right from his debut – Sethu down Avan Ivan. Now Bala is on the spots of his Eriyum Thanal in which the budding hero Atharva is the hero.

As has been his practice to pin point a particular element for his heroes, Bala is said to have suggested Atharva to shape his physique to suit the character. Thus Atharva has to reduce a weight of nearly 10 kgs. This comes in the wake of the crew getting ready for the second schedule which will be held in Ooty regions. Bala wants Atharva to be slim as much as possible to depict a character of a psycho analytic.

This is much akin to what Vishal did for his role in Avan Ivan, the squint eyed projection or for Arya as an pro-Ahoram in Naan Kadavul. Both Bala and Atharva are taking this movie to the highest esteem for the due recognition. Really a tribute to the saying efforts never fail.
