'Kahaani' remake in Tamil and Telugu

Bollywood hit film "Kahaani", starring Vidya Balan, will be remade in Tamil and Telugu as a bi-lingual, according to the latest buzz. [In Detail]

Endemol India Pvt Ltd, a Mumbai-based production house which produces soaps, is about to team up with Chennai-based Nemichand Jhabhak Productions to produce this remake. Remember, several producers vied to lay their hands on "Kahaani" remake rights but eventually Nemichand Jhabhak bagged it.

Nemichand Jhabhak Productions, who earlier delivered successful Tamil films like "Naan Avan Illai" and "Anjathe", has approached couple of heroines and are awaiting their consent. Further, they are holding talks with top directors of Tamil cinema to launch the movie on a grand scale.

A formal announcement is awaited on this. "Kahaani" saw Vidya Balan as a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in Kolkata during the Durga festivities.

Endemol India Private Limted, the pioneers in Hindi serial production is a big name in the entertainment industry of the country. They have now join hands with one of the most reputed Tamil production house Nemichand Jhabhak Productions for their maiden venture in Tamil.

Endemol India Private Limited, keen to provide quality entertainment, comes to film production for the first time and have appropriately chosen to do the remake of much acclaimed Hindi blockbuster 'Kahaani'. They have bagged the remake rights of the movie amidst stiff competition.

'Kahaani' starring Vidya Balan, is a thriller directed and co-written by Sujoy Ghosh. Besides Vidya Balan, the film also features Parambrata Chatterjee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. Balan portrayed the role of Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in the city of Kolkata during the Durga Puja festivities, who is helped in her quest by Satyaki Rana Sinha (Chatterjee) and Khan (Siddiqui).The movie won rave reviews and collected huge revenue at the box office crossing over Rs 100 crores.

Remake rights are owned by Endemol while investment partner of the movie in Tamil would be V Hitesh Jhabak of Nemichand Jhabak Productions. Talks are on with top directors of Tamil cinema to do the film and some heroines have been approached by the production house. Formal announcement is expected soon.
