Billa 2 - Movie Review
The countdown started early last week when it was officially announced that the film would be out in theatres on 13th July (today).Ajith’s fans look an excited lot and the curiosity and expectations on their faces are quite palpable. The advance booking to book the tickets started from 11th onwards and the rush to book the tickets in advance was beyond comparison. Usually, films starring superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan would witness exciting activities in front of halls screening the films.
Fans would erect huge cut-outs of the actors besides decorating the entrance to the theatre in every manner possible. The same frenzy is witnessed now on the eve of release of Billa-2 which is releasing in more than 500 cinema halls in the State alone. Huge cut-outs of Ajith have sprung up in front of most of these halls where the star’s fans have also made elaborate decorations.
Ajith gets to pair up opposite beauty queen Parvathy Omanakuttan who is debuting in Tamil films as heroine. The film also has Bruna Abdullah of Brazil essaying a prominent role. Chakri Taloti has directed the film which had been completed some time back but hit some blocks and couldn’t be released in May or June as planned earlier.
13th of any month, especially if it happens to be a Friday, is considered not an ‘auspicious thing’ by many Westerners. In England, houses are avoided given the door number of 13; instead, numbers after 12 are given as 12-A. In this context, it is earnestly hoped by Ajith’s fans and well-wishers that their ‘Thala’ would be able to break this superstition and turn 13th into a successful day!
