Nowadays title issues on the movies become very normal in Tamil cinema.  We can just remember the issue been solved for Vijay’s “ Thuppaki”.

During an interview with print media he confessed that he did in fact prefer the title 'Thalaivan' as the title of his project with Vijay as it was apt for the script and wanted to register the title.

Apparently he did approach the film chamber to register the title but he learnt that another film with the same name had already been registered and is currently under production.

Director A.L. Vijay is ensuring that actor Vijay doesn't have to go through the same problems he faced with the title case of Thuppakki. To avoid this Director A L Vijay has decided to change the title for his next movie with Ilayathalapathy Vijay.
