Though the news was doing rounds ‘ for the past fortnight or so. Now we have it almost confirmed. With Thuppakki starring Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead and is slated to release in theaters for Deepavali next week.
Sources close to the Unit of the film say on condition of anonymity that not ‘all is well‘ between Vijay and A R Murugadoss.

Initially Vijay’s camp was terribly upset with the fee demanded by A.R. Muguradoss when he was offered the film by his father SAC. Later, Kalaipuli Thanu took over as the producer and promptly told Murugadoss(apparently at Vijay’s behest) to stick to the budget and not overshoot it.

A R Murugadoss, is one director who never bothers about budget, was deeply hurt by the pre-condition which forced him to shoot many sequences sans his usual panache and vision.

When the dubbing session of the film was going on, Murugadoss reportedly couldn’t control himself and at one instance, he was seen nodding his head in disbelief as to how he could have shot a particular sequence so badly. Ironically enough, thanks to the misunderstanding with Vijay, Murugadoss decided not to go for re-shooting those sequences. Vijay on his part, not only played the lead role but also helped Murugadoss in directing many sequences which the latter didn’t like at all.

Vijay literally shadow-directed the film, say these sources, forcing ARM to regret for having taken up the film’s direction. At one time, Murugadoss is said to have told Vijay “If you are to shoot the film as per your wish and expectation, why should I be around as the director? You take of everything; I shall step aside!” Vijay remained undeterred after ARM’s verbal volleys and continued to irritate the director with his ‘directing’ credentials.

For the record, cinematographer Santosh Sivan had to step in to intervene and keep the warring Vijay and Murugadoss, In this backdrop, it remains to be seen as to how the audience reach to this film.
