How the birth of Kumki happened? - Prabhu Solomon
The complete crew of Kumki was present this afternoon addressing the media channels as part of film’s promotions. Everyone had a wonderful experience to share on this film and of course about their confidence level peaking on high.

Thuppakki Interval-Tollywood star surprise

Director-producer Lingusamy spoke about an incident that happened in Hyderabad, when the entire crew was present for the promotions of Kumki Telugu version Gajaraju. Says Lingusamy: “During the event, Rebel star Prabhas approached me saying that he was spellbound over the response of audiences at a Thenkasi theatre for Kumki trailer that was screened during Thuppakki.” Totting up Lingusamy mentioned that only few days is left for the film’s release and he will speak more after its release.

The birth of ‘Kumki’ was co-incidental – Prabhu Solomon

Well, there have been few international films based on elephants that include Tony Jaa’s Ong Bak. While there are some presumptions that Kumki is slightly based on this theme, Prabhu Solomon speaks on how the birth of Kumki happened. ‘While I was in a village near Kerala, it was a co-incidence that I witnessed something rare. An elephant was given two shots of sleeping dose injection and yet it didn’t obey the orders. When ‘Kumki’ elephant entered the area, the other elephant had no options but to obey its orders’ says Prabhu Solomon, who continues to add saying, ‘this prompted me to make a film based on this theme as a stereotypical love story wouldn’t favour the audiences all the time.’

Reason behind the delay

Prabhu Solomon doesn’t miss to mention that there has been a buzz that the film is delayed unnecessarily. Kumki is not a film that can be completed in just a couple of months. Actor Vikram Prabhu doesn’t belong to the native village to easily adapt to its culture. It took nearly 25 days for him to climb over the elephant and sit over its top just like a professional mahout.

Keeping the fingers crossed

K.E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green Films mentioned that he is very confident about the success of Kumki. ‘While Attakathi exceeded beyond our expectations levels, we are sure this ‘Kumki’ elephant will rock to a greater magnitude in all centres.’
