To celebrate the 100 years of Indian Cinema 'CNN-IBN' conducted a poll for Selecting 'The Greatest Artists of All Times in Indian Cinema'.

• Best Actor of Indian Cinema : NTR Rama Rao (53% of the Votes) with Kamal Haasan bagging the second place with 44% of the votes.
• Best Actress of Indian Cinema : Sri Devi recieving 39% of total votes , Madhuri Dixit and Savithri finished second and Third with 16 and 12% of the votes.
• Best Picture of The Century : Mani Ratnam's Nayagan was Voted as The Movie of Century with 42% of votes, While Sholay got the second place with 29%.
• Best Director of Indian Cinema : Mani Ratnam was Selected as India's Greatest director of all time with 29% of the votes , whilst legendary director K.Balanchader came second with 18%.
• Best Music Director of Indian Cinema : Isainagni Ilayaraja won this category beating Oscar Hero A.R Rahman hands down bagging 49% of the votes.

In the 100 year history of Indian cinema, ‘Nayagan’ starring Kamal Haasan has been chosen the best movie; Ilayaraja has been chosen the best music composer, and Sridevi the best actress. The result is out of a recent IBN Survey conducted across the country.


Arrangements are in progress to celebrate the centenary year of Indian cinema. In the event which is to be held in Chennai, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajini, Kamal, Mohanlal, Mammootty and Chiranjeevi are to participate.

In a development, best actors and actresses in the 100 years of cinema are being chosen. The survey was conducted through the internet. Fans participate in the poll and select the best actors and actresses. Telugu actor NT Ramarao has been selected the best actor. About 53% of people have voted in favour of him.

The survey has revealed that NT Ramarao has won many fans as he did role of Gods as Rama, Krishna, Karna and Thirupathi Venkata Chalapathy. Also, fans have opined that role of Gods suits him well.

Kamal Haasan has been selected the second best actor. He has got 44% of the votes. Malayalam actor Mohanlal and Kannada actor Rajkumar have won 1 percent of votes respectively and are in the third place.

Actress Sridevi has been selected the best actress. Actress Sridevi was in lead in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cine field. Also, she was described the dream girl among fans. Sridevi has fans across the country. Sridevi has acquired 39 percent of votes and is in the first place. Madhuri Dixit has won the second place. Madhuri Dixit has acquired 16 percent of votes. Savithri has won the third place. About 12 percent of fans have voted for Savithri. Aishwarya Rai has won the fourth place. She has acquired 8 percent of votes.

Kamal Haasan Starrer ‘Nayagan’ has been selected the best movie. About 32 percent of people have voted in favour of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Nayagan’. The second place has gone to Hindi movie ‘Shole’. About 24 percent have voted in favour of movie ‘Shole’. Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra joined hands for the movie. The movie turned a huge hit across the country. Mani Ratnam has been selected the best director. He has acquired 29 percent of votes.
