Cinematographer Saravanan turned director through the film 'Silambattam' which had Simbu and Sana Khan in the lead roles. Now, Saravanan is making his comeback into the direction department and this time he has opted for Gautham Karthik to play the lead.

Confirming the news, Saravanan says, “Gautham had heard close to 25 scripts after Kadal. He got excited when I narrated my script to him. He wanted to start shooting for this flick immediately.”

He adds, “This film will be very different from my previous venture, Silambattam. It will, primarily, be a youth entertainer. The film is set in the backdrop of a college. We will start shooting for the film from April.” Saravanan tells us that he’s yet to finalize the title, and the rest of the cast and crew. He says, “We’ve almost zeroed in on the female lead as well. Since we are going on floors from next month, we’re looking at someone who can start shooting immediately.”

Source in the know say that the director is looking out for a perfect female lead for this film. Renowned Telugu producer G.V.G.Raju will be bankrolling this project. Despite of the hype it created, Gautham Karthik's debut film 'Kadal' turned out to be a dud at the box-office, but was celebrated for its music and other technicalities. So, this untitled project is expected to give Gautham, his much needed recognition among the masses.
