Tamil actress Anjali, who went missing from a hotel in the posh Jubilee Hills area here on Monday, made a "dramatic" appearance before city police on Friday night.

Her brother Ravi Shankar had lodged a complaint with Jubilee Hills police station on Tuesday stating that she had disappeared from a star hotel and her mobile phone was also switched-off.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) G Sudheer Babu, the actress appeared before police and gave a statement saying "she was stressed out due to her busy shooting schedule" and had gone to Mumbai for a break.

Actress Anjali, missing for the last five days, made a sudden appearance before the Hyderabad police on Friday night at around 11 pm. "I went to Mumbai to relax", said Anjali to mediapersons assembled outside the DCP West Zone police office. She was accompanied by a man.

"And I have come back now to attend the shooting of 'Bol Bachchan' on April 14.

DCP G. Sudhir Babu said Anjali appeared to be  too stressed to speak about disclosing the actual reason behind her disappearance.

“She  told us  she went out of the hotel on her own  and there was nobody behind her disappearance",  the DCP said.

The statement of the actor was recorded by the police.

Anjali came from Chennai to Hyderabad to take part in a film shooting. She checked into Daspalla hotel along with her uncle. While her uncle was in the washroom, she walked out of the hotel on April 8.

The video footage recorded by the cameras in the hotel showed her walking out alone.

She appeared before police as there was missing case registered in the city, the DCP said, adding that based on her statement a final report will be submitted to the court.

Earlier, there were reports that Anjali had accused her step mother Bharati Devi and Tamil film director Kalanjiyam of harassing her.

Anjali acted in hit Tamil films Engaeyum Eppothum and Angaadi Theru besides the multi-starrer Telugu movie Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.
