Vishal's Madha Gaja Raja was struck in the cans due to the problems faced by its producer Gemini Film Circuit (GFC). Now Vishal's Vishal Film Factory has purchased the film from GFC, with the help of financier Madurai Anbu. The film is slotted for September 6 release.

Madha Gaja Raja had earlier abbreviated its name to MGR, but has now dropped the idea. Vishal at a press conference said : " The three letter short form MGR is powerful but we have dropped it as we do not want to get into any controversies and it shouldn't be misused."

The film directed by Sundar C has Vishal, Santhanam, Anjali and Varalakshmi in the lead. It is said to be an out and out masala entertainer laced with comedy and action like Kamal Haasan's Sakalakalavallavan or Rajinikanth's Murattu Kalai.
