Box Office Collection Report: Raja Rani, Naiyaandi & Vanakkam Chennai
Here is the box office report of Tamil releases "Raja Rani", "Naiyaandi" and "Vanakkam Chennai."

Raja Rani

Arya-Nayanthara starrer "Raja Rani" is still doing decent business even in the fourth week of its release.

According to a report in AndhraBoxOffice (ABO), "Raja Rani" is expected to earn a distributor share of around ₹23 crore in four weeks in India. A major chunk of the film's collections has been contributed by Tamil Nadu (₹20 crore expected in four weeks), followed by Karnataka (approximately ₹1.5 crore) and Kerala (around ₹1.4 crore).

"Raja Rani" is still performing well in Tamil Nadu, despite a galore of new releases including "Naiyaandi" and "Vanakkam Chennai." The film is registering an average theatre occupancy of 55 percent during weekdays and 65 percent during weekends, particularly in Chennai, reported.

It is going strong in "A" centres and is likely to continue its business for a few more days.

Dhanush's "Naiyaandi" took a good opening on the first day of its release (11 October). However, the film has failed to keep its momentum in the days that followed, owing to mixed reviews from critics.

In Chennai, the film is registering average theatre occupancy of 45 percent in weekdays and 55 percent in weekends.

At overseas box office, "Naiyaandi" has minted over ₹33 lakh in its second weekend. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Dhanush starrer earned £ 22,573 (₹22.44 lakh) after the second weekend at UK box office. The film, which is still running in theatres in Australia, has fetched A$ 20,157 (₹11.97 lakh).

Lack of big releases has helped "Naiyaandi" collect decent revenue from theatres. The film was expected to become a comedy blockbuster, but has turned to be an average grosser.

Vanakkam Chennai

Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi's "Vanakkam Chennai" rules the Chennai box office even in its second week. The film took a good opening upon release on 11 October.

Anirudh's music, engaging storyline and film's promotions ensured that "Vanakkam Chennai" opened well on the first day. The film continues to dominate at the box office, despite facing strong competition from other releases.

"Vanakkam Chennai" is faring better than "Naiyaandi" in Tamil Nadu. However, the film's collections are lower than the Dhanush starrer at overseas markets.

Shiva-Priya Anand's film collected ₹9.93 lakh after the second weekend at the UK box office, which is far lesser than "Naiyaandi" collections. [Note: the number of screens for each of these films varies]

All three films are expected to continue their run in theatres until 31 October, when Ajith's "Arrambam" is all set to have a massive worldwide release.
