Director Durai Senthil Kumar had initially narrated two stories to actor-turned-producer Dhanush.
When Dhanush called in the director after the success of Edhir Neechal to give him another opportunity to wield the megaphone, he had two stories ready, say sources.

Dhanush was impressed with the police story, titled Taana, and agreed to produce it under his banner Wunderbar Films. Despite Taan being a police story, it will not have any gravity-defying stunts, we hear.

Taana has Sivakarthikeyan playing the lead role and the search for a heroine is on.
