Traditionally, April is a good month to release films. It is the beginning of the summer holidays and all educational institutions will be closed. It is the perfect time to release big movies with popular stars, that will bring in the family audiences.

This year, April 2014 will see the Lok Sabha elections, with polling in Tamil Nadu on April 24. The usual IPL frenzy will be there, but this year the early matches in the tournament are going to be played in the UAE. If it was held in India then the buzz would have been bigger and eaten into summer releases.

Kollywood has lined up an impressive release schedule in April. There are big and small films. The films which have confirmed an April release are the following -

1. Sivakarthikeyan & Hansika's – Maan Karate on April 4. Directed by Thirumurugan. Produced by Escape Artist Motion Pictures.

2. Arulnidhi & Bindu Madhavi's – Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavanigalum on April 4. Directed by Chimbudevan. Produced by Mohana Movies

3. Vishal & Lakshmi Menon's – Naan Sigappu Manithan on April 11. Directed by Thiru. Produced by Vishal Film Factory and UTV Motion Pictures.

4. Vadivelu & Mennakshi Dixit's Jagajala Pujabala Tenaliraman on April 18. Directed by Yuvaraj. Produced by AGS Entertainments

5. Dulquer Salmaan & Nazriya Nazim's Vaayai Moodi Pesava on April 25. Directed by Balaji Mohan. Produced by Radiance Media & Y'Not Studios.

Along with these films quite a few small budget films are in the pipeline, which are also ready for release. Trade feels the average four Tamil releases per week will continue, as nearly 20 small films have announced that they are releasing in April.
