A lot of junior artists numbering in the 1000s were involved in the movie and extensive costumes and make-up had to be used for all these junior artistes. Kamal couldn’t proceed beyond a point due to budget constraints and also the aforementioned VFX drawbacks prevalent then.
But now, the Ulaganayagan has plans of reviving the movie and it may happen as early as next year. We hear that he had shot about 25% of the movie back then. In a recent interaction with fans, this is what Kamal had to say to a poser on reviving Marudhanayagam.
“Even I want to know when it will happen. Unfortunately, I won't get the budget from local producers here. It is not a local film, but a film to be made in three languages — Tamil, French and English. But, it can be revived any moment.”
This is one film which would surely be worth the long wait!
