Suriya's 24 to face legal trouble

Suriya's 24 in legal trouble

Suriya's upcoming Tamil film 24 is facing a legal issue by none other than Bollywood star actor Anil Kapoor.
Some months ago, Suriya had announced his new film, which he said would be called 24. The actor was to be the star as well as the producer of the film. But then, it turned out that the look of the title was very similar to the American TV series 24. Now, it is known that Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor had bought the rights for this serial from 20th Century Fox International TV a few years ago, and last year, Kapoor adapted the same to a series in Hindi, the first season of which was aired on TV. Therefore, the minute Kapoor saw Suriya's movie's look, he took an exception to it.

A couple of days ago, Kapoor had said, "As we are from the same fraternity, I spoke to Suriya before sending a notice... He said he'd speak to his team and get back. What got me to take this step was the way the title of his film 24 looked and the logo which is very similar to our TV series. It is something I thought I should protect as much as I can."

But now, it look like Kapoor may call a truce with Suriya. Kapoor's latest stance on this issue is, "I have spoken to him. I think, hopefully it will settle down and we will sort it out. We are ready with it... See, we all protect our brand and name, so we do everything to protect it," he said, speaking from Kuala Lumpur. Meanwhile, Suriya's 24, being helmed by Vikram Kumar, went on floors a couple of days ago. The actor is on a month-long shooting schedule in Mumbai currently and the team will head to other locations from there.
Vikram K Kumar directing Suriya, Samantha starring 24 commenced in Mumbai couple of days before. Suriya himself producing the movie on his 2D Entertainments banner with AR Rahman's music.
