‘OK Kanmani’, ‘Moondram Pirai’ to be remade in Hindi

The north is looking towards the south lately and the latest information to prove this point is, Mani Ratnam’s recent hit ‘OK Kanmani’ and Balu Mahendra’s classic ‘Moondram Pirai’ are getting ready to be remade in Hindi.

The Bollywood version of ‘OK Kanmani’ will be directed by Shaad, a former assistant to Mani Ratnam. Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor have been roped in to play the roles of Aadhi and Tara, made memorable by Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, respectively.

According to sources, shooting for the movie will commence early next year. It is said that some important changes will be made to the script to suit the tastes of Hindi audience. Music, it is learnt, may be composed by A R Rahman himself.

On the other hand, advertisement maker Lloyd Baptista will make his directorial debut with the Hindi remake of ‘Moondram Pirai’. “It is a masterpiece, it should be passed on to the next generation. I have watched it countless times and though it would be a challenge to remake it, I am up for it,” he was quoted as saying.
