Director Hari requests Suriya to reconsider his decision on ‘Soorarai Pottru’ OTT release

director Hari who directed Suriya in 'Singam' series, 'Aaru' and 'Vel' has requested Suriya to reconsider his decision.
Actor Suriya made a surprise move by announcing to release his most expected movie ‘Soorarai Pottru’ directly on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.

Suriya shocked the whole industry and many distributors and producers with his announcement. Ever since OTT release announcement was made, there are mixed reactions from the fans and the theatre owners slams the big stars decision.

Now director Hari who directed Suriya in 'Singam' series, 'Aaru' and 'Vel' has requested Suriya to reconsider his decision.

His statement to Suriya reads, “As a director who has worked with you in various movies and knowing you well, I wish to say few things. As a fan, I would definitely wish to see your films in a theatre, not on an OTT platform.”

Hari said that it is the applause they received in theatres that took them to heights and that movies are gods to be worshipped in temples called cinema theatres.

“Cinema, as a profession, is very divine. It is like a God to us. God can be anywhere, but it should be at a temple known as theatre. There is also a recognition of the maker's creativity and hard work.”, he added.

“I am aware of the pain of being a producer. If you still reconsider your decision, your name and fame will remain immortal, until the end of Cinema,” said the director.
The film, that was earlier set to release on April 9 this year, was postponed indefinitely due to the escalating coronavirus crisis and will now skip the theatres and premiere straightaway on the OTT platform from October 30th.
