Now, in a sweet piece of news, the film is now selected for screening at the International Indian Film Festival in Toronto (IIFFT) this year.
Produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial turned out to be a mega-hit venture, though the film had locked horns with Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil. Lokesh Kanagaraj shared the news on his social media profile.

The International Indian Film Festival Toronto will begin from August 9 and will go on till August 15.
In the IIFFT's website, the synopis of Kaithi read, "On a night where the entire police officers got into an immovable situation, a paroled convict is forced to help the police, so that he can see his daughter for the first time in life. How he helps the department forms the story of this action packed entertainer."
Kaithi features Karthi, Narain, Dheena, Arjun Das, George Maryan Ramana, Harish Uthaman and Hareesh Peradi in important roles. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan, editor Philomin Raj and composer Sam CS. Recently the director revealed his plans about the sequel of Kaithi.
'Kaithi' is about Dilli, a just-released convict in the position to help the police department in its big haul of narcotics mafia. Despite it's action-packed premise the father-daughter angle in the film too was much appreciated.
Nani’s Telugu emotional sports drama, 'Jersey', Fahadh Faazil’s Malayalam film 'Trance' and Hrithik Roshan’s Hindi film 'Super30' are the other films that have been chosen for a screening at the festival.
Karthi will be seen nest in 'Sultan' with director Bakkiyaraj Kannan. Lokesh Kanagaraj's next directorial venture 'Master' with 'Thalapathy' Vijay and 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, which had to be stalled indefinitely because of corona-virus lock down. The film was supposed to release for the last Easter weekend April 9.
