SP Balasubrahmanyam critical due to COVID-19, moved to ICU

We had earlier reported that legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this month and admitted in private hospital in Chennai. Now, the latest is that the acclaimed singer is in critical condition and has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Hospital authorities said SPB is on life support and his condition remains critical. Last week, SP Balasubrahmanyam posted a video on Facebook revealing that he has been diagnosed with COVID-19. However, he said the infections were mild in nature and he would be out of the hospital in no time.

The hospital's statement read, "There has been a setback in the health of Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare for symptoms for Covid-19 since 5th August 2020. In a late night development on 13th August 2020, his condition had deteriorated and based on the advice of the expert medical team attending him, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is on life support and his condition remains critical."

As soon as news about SP Balasubrahmanyam spread online, netizens and many celebrities including AR Rahman, Chinmayi Sripaada, Dhanush, Radikaa Sarathkumar, R Sarathkumar among others prayed for the singer’s speedy recovery.
